Enough Said, Careful how you allow others to influence your happiness

We saw the movie Enough Said, starring James Gandolfini and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (great date movie). The movie was sweet and very sad at the same time, that’s all I will say in case you want to watch it for yourself. We are warned in the Word of God to be careful of the company we keep because we can be negatively influenced by it (Proverbs 13:20). Be careful when you’re looking at someones relationship from a distance (on the outside looking in), longing to have what you think they have, their version of happiness could just be, having stuff not one another. They may seem happy, but you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. Do they communicate, laugh together or even like each other when no one else is around? If another human being is influencing change in your life, it should only be for your good.

The lesson here is to know yourself, know your happiness enough not to allow others opinions, likes or dislikes to invade your thinking in a negative way, which could cause conflict in your relationship. For example, if your significant other is loud and your okay with that, then don’t allow someone elses opinion to cause you to be annoyed by his or her loudness, or if your idea of a good time together is being at home watching a movie, then don’t allow someone who likes to go out partying or always active outside the home cause you to feel differently about your simple lifestyle.

Live and let live, especially if your way has been working for you.
