Old School, New School

In light of what’s currently in the news concerning the NFL player who “injured” his son while disciplining (spanking) him, I have only this to say, If we believe the bible, we must believe it entirely. God’s word clearly says, if we fail to discipline our children we allow bad behavior to destroy their lives. Disciplining doesn’t always stand for a spanking, If giving a time out or depriving your child of tv, games, toys, or an activity works in order to discipline your child, fine! Whatever works for you and your family, just keep working at it until you find what works for you and your child because it’s one thing to allow your child’s undisciplined behavior to aggravate or irritate you in the privacy of your home but when it spills out of your home into play dates, schools, onto playgrounds, in restaurants and stores etc., it affects others and should not be okay.

Proverbs 13:24, NIV
24 Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them. (Proverbs 23:13, 22:15)
